Sentry Battery Powered Photo Eye Kit - 550013

The Sentry battery-powered photo eye kit is a recommended secondary safety device for every gate operator installation. Photo eyes work by generating a beam between the two devices; when an object (such as a person or vehicle) interrupts this beam, the gate will not continue to open/close. This photo eye kit has a range of 26 feet between each photo-eye. Just like all of our other Sentry gate operator accessories, this photo eye kit is solar-friendly.

The primary photo eye hooks up to the control box using standard 20 gauge, 12/24 VDC wire, while the secondary photo eye is battery-powered. We recommend that two sets of photo eyes are installed for maximum safety around swing gate openers. The following is an installation example.

The first set of photo eyes, let's call this set A, should be installed pointing at each other across the drive on the outside of the hinge post. The second set, set B, is to be mounted on the other side of the gate at the point where the gate is fully opened. The photo eyes must be installed where the gate will never break the beam... or else the gate will prevent itself from ever opening fully.

The primary photo eye should be on the side closest to the driveway since it needs 4 wires to attach to the control box. The secondary photo eye in this kit is battery-powered, eliminating the need to run wires across your driveway.
